Devon House was the brainchild of George Stiebel, a man whose life story is as fascinating as the mansion he built. Born to a Jamaican housemaid and a German-Jewish merchant in 1820, Stiebel’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming Jamaica’s first black millionaire is nothing short of remarkable.
